Mechanicsburg, PA – December 21, 2023

The Child Center of Pennsylvania is proud to announce  Brian Houchins  of Mechanicsburg as the recipient of the 2023 Community Recognition Award. This prestigious award is offered annually to a person who has demonstrated distinctive dedication to improving the lives of kids in our community.

Over the past ten years, his efforts have significantly impacted the lives of numerous children in Mechanicsburg and surrounding areas. Houchins’ initiatives embody establishing a free after-school tutoring program for underprivileged students, weekend workshops focusing on literacy and numeracy expertise for at-risk youth, and leading a successful community-driven marketing campaign to upgrade native playgrounds, guaranteeing safe and inclusive play spaces for all youngsters.

The award ceremony will be held on January 15, 2024, on the Mechanicsburg Community Center. The event will feature speeches from native dignitaries, a presentation about Houchins’ contributions, and the award presentation.

“We are thrilled to honor Mr. Houchins with this award.
